S.M.A.R.T., Inc. (SINGLE MOTHERS OF AMERICA RESOURCE TEAM), (SMART) is a metro Atlanta, GA nonprofit 501(c)(3) family education and support organization. SMART was founded in 2003 and later obtain tax-exemption in July 2016. SMART’s mission is to strengthen and inspire SMART parents, leading to SMART children, which leads to SMART communities. We fulfill our mission each day by providing evidence-based parenting education, life skills training programs and academic tutoring services to single parent-led families with children birth to eighteen years. SMART was founded by Toyin Fadina, an educator (by profession) and single parent that has dedicated her life to helping other single parents and their children thrive. Ms. Fadina was compelled to establish SMART so that she could pass along hope and proven strategies that were foundational life lessons learned from raising her daughter as a teenage mother to adulthood successfully. SMART offers several programs to assist single moms, all based on Ms. Fadina’s first-hand experiences as a teen mom, anecdotal reports from other single moms, and evidence-based research from peer reviewed studies. Ms. Fadina could not accomplish this critical work without the dedication and support of an amazing leadership and team. SMART is governed by a three-person Board of Directors that bring knowledge, skills, and commitment to furthering our mission. SMART is also supported by a team of five volunteers who champion the SMART mission by bringing a ray of sunshine and talent to their work with children and families.
